The University of Miskolc, the Eger Affiliate and the Hydraulics and Pneumatics Section of the Hungarian Scientific Association of Mechanical Engineers will organise the XII. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION ON PNEUMATICS AND HYDRAULICS at the University of Miskolc and in Eger, Hungary between September 17-18, 2007.

You and your colleagues are warmly invited to this event!

The objective of the conference is to renew the scientific and professional knowledge about the most up-to-date products of hydraulics and pneumatics and their application, with special regard to the requirements of industrial restructuring, the intensification of efficiency, quality assurance and the European Union. The conference will provide a golden opportunity for Hungarian and foreign devel-opers, manufacturers and dealers to present their achievements and to get to know the demands and experience of users.

Background

The 1st International Conference and Exhibition on Pneumatics and Hydraulics in Hungary was or-ganised by the prominent experts of this field, with the active participation of the Scientific Association of Mechanical Engineers, in Győr in 1972. Since then, the international meeting of experts in hydrau-lics and pneumatics has been repeated in our country in every 3 years, with numerous participants from Hungary and abroad.

The University of Miskolc, in cooperation with the organisations of the Scientific Association of Mechanical Engineers in organisational matters, has been the host of this internationally recognised meet-ing since 1990.

Each time, the conference has been a good occasion to demonstrate the scientific and profes-sional values in Hungary. Some of them have en-riched European culture with inventions, patents and new solutions.

In the North-Hungarian region, the centre of pneumatic developments and manufacturing was Eger for several decades. This tradition seems to be revived in the near future. Taking into account the historical values of Hungary, the second day of the conference has been organised in Eger since 2000, accompanied by targeted visits to factories and cul-tural events.

The city of Miskolc is one of the biggest towns in the region. There are a lot of cultural, historical and geographical sights in and around the town. The University of Miskolc, the legal predecessor of the Academy established in Selmecbánya in 1735, is an internationally renowned institution of Miskolc, The university has 3 engineering (mining, mechanical, metallurgical) and several other faculties in the spirit of “universitas”.

The city of Eger is the centre of Heves County. Its history is closely related to Hungary’s past. Its episcopacy was founded by King St. Stephen around 1008; its medieval castle was defended by István Dobó, captain of the castle, and his soldiers and the town’s women, in a heroic battle against an outnum-bering Turkish army. In downtown Eger, the manor-houses, palaces and buildings radiate a historical atmosphere. The Cathedral is the second biggest in Hungary.
