Welcome
Dear Colleagues,
The 1st Upper Limb Surgery Congress was held in September 2024, organized by the Department of Traumatology of the Markusovszky University Teaching Hospital—celebrating its 70th anniversary—and the excellent team of Asszisztencia Ltd.
The event, also marked by the 30th anniversary Congress of the Hungarian Society for Hand Surgery, the Young Hand Surgeons Forum, and the Hungarian Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Association, was attended by 310 participants, with 140 presentations delivered. A total of 10 theoretical and hands-on workshops were held, one of our key objectives being the teaching and practice of physical examination skills.
The congress received very positive feedback and left a significant impression on the organizers as well, leading to the idea of organizing the 2nd Upper Limb Surgery Congress. We are approaching the organization with even greater determination and more ambitious plans—full of new ideas and innovations, which we hope will meet expectations and pleasantly surprise our audience.
The venue is still under organization. The planned date is the second half of September 2027, most likely between the 22nd and 24th. The concept will be similar to the first congress. Several distinguished international speakers have already accepted our invitation. In light of this, we would like to encourage that presentations be delivered in English whenever possible. Although the event will be part of the annual congress of the Hungarian Society for Hand Surgery, it also provides an excellent opportunity to prepare for future international congress participation, where English presentations will be routine.
We consider it important to announce the main topic of the congress in advance: “Stiffness” (loss of motion). Our aim is to encourage the preparation of high-quality, potentially prospective studies and more scientifically focused presentations.
On the closing day of the 2nd congress, the “Bring Your Case” session will once again be one of the most valuable parts of the program. In addition, clinical examinations, mini battles, live surgeries, cadaver labs, and workshops will take place alongside the evening social events.
We look forward to seeing you in September 2027!
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Upper Limb Surgery Congress
