Welcome Reception
on Wednesday evening, June 5
All registered participants and accompanying persons are welcome to this reception in the Budapest Congress Centre.

Tennis Tournament
on Friday, June 7 1400-18 00
All registered participants are invited to compete for the title of "Champion of the XXVII FIMS World Congress ot Sports Medicine" . A Round Robin doubles system will be used for finding the best players for singles and mixed doubles semifinals and finals.

Half Day Excursion
to Szentendre

on Friday, June 7

Registered accompanying persons are welcome to this pleasant half-day program in the picturesque town of Szentendre, where after a stroll through the baroque centre of the city, a visit to the Kovács Margit Ceramic Museum and a visit to the confectionary museum the participants will have the opportunity to shop. Afterwards, a visit to a typical Hungarian inn is planned as well as a delicious Hungarian dinner.



OPTIONAL TOURS

The organisers have planned group activities and tours for Thursday, Friday and Suturday. Pre-registration and advance payment is requested. A minimum of 13 participants is required for each tour.

 

Sightseeing in Budapest by Bus

The tour begins with a drive by the Parliament. We then cross the Danube on the Margaret-bridge and drive to the Royal Castle on the Buda side, where we visit the Fishermens' Bastion and the Matthias Church. After the Citadel we cross the Elisabeth-bridge and drive the City-park and Heroes' Square. On our way back we go by way of the Opera and St Stephen's Basilica.

Royal Tour

On this tour guests will visit the former summer residence of Queen Elisabeth (Sissy) in Gödöllö and the royal gardens with bower and pavilion. Coffee and cake will be served at the palace café and a visit to the royal waiting hall at the train station is planned. Afterwards the guests are taken to the Capuchin Abbey of Mariabesnyõ, where they will visit the abbey and the tomb of the Grassalkovich dynasty.

Excursion to Szentendre

This tour takes you to the picturesque village of Szentendre. After a stroll through the baroque centre of the city, a visit to the Kovács Margit Ceramic Museum, and to the confectionery museum, coffee is served with cake in a traditional cafe. Later you will have the opportunity to shop. We return by boat to Budapest along the river Danube.

Puszta Tour

An unforgettable day in the Puszta. Participants drive to Kecskemét and after a guided walking tour through the city they continue on to Lajosmizse. There they will be greeted with a traditional welcome drink and after the great performance of the horsemen and a carriage ride through the Puszta, a Typical meal will follow accompanied by gipsy music in a Csárda.

The Danube Bend - an Excursion into Hungary's History

We lead the visitors to Visegrád, the former Royal residence, where they will have a fascinating view on the Danube Bend, and then on to Esztergom, which is the centre of the Catholic Church in Hungary. After a tour through the interior of the Cathedral and lunch, we continue on to the baroque artists' village of Szentendre. Then we return to Budapest by boat on the Danube.

Lake Balaton and Herend,
City of Famous Porcelain

After a guided tour through the world famous porcelain manufactory (founded in 1839) and a visit to the museum, guests will be offered the opportunily to buy samples of the famous porcelain. Later there will be a drive to the Tihany Peninsula, a famous nature reserve, an interior visit of the Abbey (founded in 1051), then lunch in a traditional Csárda. Finaly there is a drive to the oldest spa, Balatonfüred.

POST-CONGRESS TOURS

Bookings for these tours should be made on the registration form. A minimum of 13 participants is required for each tour. The tour price includes full board and all entrance fees. The organisers reserve the right to amend any program.

 

Visit to the Tokaj region -
"King of Wines - Wine of Kings"
 

This trip is a full day tour to the North of Hungary, where our guests will visit the Tokaj-Hegyalja historical wine region which povides the world-famous TOKAJI ASZÚ, titled "King of Wines - Wine of Kings".
On our way to Tokaj we first stop in Mezõkövesd, the capital of "Matyó land" where we visit the Memorial House furnished in traditional Matyó style, and the Matyó Museum, revealing colourful interiors of houses with garden, embroideries and folk costumes. afterwards we proceed to the Tokaj region. While being on the outskirts of Tokaj, we find ourselves at the ancient borders of Upper Hungary, Transylvania and Poland. while tasting their famous wines you will all realize that colleagues of OREMUS winery have been united by one noble goal from the beginning - that of continuing the centuries-old tradition of aszú wine production to make the best possible Tokaj wine. The tour ends with a nice dinner at Õskaján Restaurant and we return to Budapest late in the evening.

Trip to Hollókõ 

A fullday program visiting "Palócz land". The guests are received by women in traditional folk costumes offering salt, bread and home-made brandy. The small village is a World Heritage site, and its inhabitants will demonstrate and teach the Palócz folk dances and songs to their guests.

Visit to Northwest Hungary 

A three-day tour by bus to Gyõr, Sopron and surrounding areas. First day: a visit to the baroque centre of Gyõr, featuring the Bishop's Palace, the cathedral and the old town. Then a trip to Pannonhalma, a visit to the great Benedictine Abbey and its early Gothic Basilica. The Abbey, which dates back a thousand years, houses the most famous Church Library and Picture Gallery in Hungary. The second day features a trip to Nagycenk and a visit to the Széchenyi Palace and later to the baroque Esrterháry Palace at Fertõd. On the third day, a trip to Kõszeg is planned. This is a small town rich in historic atmosphere with a castle from the 14th century. Finally we proceed to Sopron, a historic town on the Austrian border.

Visit to Southern Hungary 

A three-day tour including Kalocsa, a typical Hungarian town famous for its embroidery and wall-painting artists. A visit to the famous wine cellar in the village of Hajós and a short trip to the nature reserve area at Gemenc are planned. The second day offers sightseeing in Pécs, with a tour of the elegantly formed monuments, buildings and valuable statues of the town centre, a trip to the four-towers of Siklós, visiting the castle, which has been inhabited continuously since the Middle Ages. Later we proceed to Villány, to visit the Wine Museum.
